Scanning the zombie brain
My colleague Tim Verstynen and I are both neuroscientists and members of the Zombie Research Society advisory board (with Romero!). We recently created a 3D model of the zombie brain based upon observations of zombie behaviors.
We outline 9 behavioral symtoms--and their neurological origins--as well as give tips on how to exploit this knowledge to survive the zombie apocalypse.
We have done a lot of public speaking and engagement with this. Yes, this is all in jest and for fun, but we consider this to be a really strong teaching and outreach tool, as people suddenly have an interest in random neuroscience topics. We also use this to make fun of our field (cognitive neuroscience) a little as well.
