Promoting post-secondary education using social media
While not quite a complete social network, we've built a microsite to raise awareness of our school. It includes a nifty mashup feature and twitter-esque updates aimed at generating some fun dialogue.

BCIT is a polytechnic in British Columbia, predominantly viewed as a trade school. In an attempt to engage our audience rather than simply blast out marketing messages, we created this site to raise awareness of our breadth of offerings. It includes a series of ongoing videoblogs, and we're hoping to get current students, alumni and faculty involved in some of the dialogue.

It's also a bit of a testing ground for seeing what we can incorporate into our core site that will (a) help potential and current students get into the school and, (b) enhance teaching and learning processes.

Would love some feedback and suggestions.
