Hate the Hype - videogame reviews
With the recent demise of 1UP, I believe there's a dearth of honest game criticism. All that's left are the publishers' shills, groveling for advertising dollars and preview copies.

In order for the game industry to grow up, to be accepted as something worthwhile for an adult to spend time at, we need intelligent and adult criticism. My goal isn't to tell you whether or not to buy a game... chances are that you've succumbed to the hype on the other sites and already know what you're going to buy.

Rather, my goal is to deconstruct games and describe their triumphs and failings. If that helps you decide where to spend your money, I'm very glad. Otherwise, I just hope that it sparks intelligent discussion of where games are today.

I've got one review up (Fallout 3), and I hope to have another up in the next couple of days. After that, I don't know what the schedule will be, but probably weekly.

There really is a dearth of intelligent/honest gaming discourse. I find it a little troubling now that after eight years, my main source of gaming news is still penny arcade. Best of luck with your project.

My second review, Mirror's Edge, is now up.

And my brother thinks maybe he wants to get a Siskel and Ebert thing going on (but without the thumbs system).

clearly your thumbs will be far too busy manipulating thumb sticks.

While you were far too kind to Fallout 3, I heartily applaud your overall purpose of honest reviewing.
