Did You Try Rebooting?
A single serving site that should be the one link IT helpdesk you offer to Luddite friends, family and peers when they come to you with computer related problems.

I'm open to suggestions on witty phrases to put in the YES and NO sections of the site. I'm also open to suggestions on how to make the YES section more useful for those who did try rebooting and didn't solve their problem.

Hey, the site won't load for me.

Seriously,

I'd probably put "Are you lying?" under the "Yes" option.

"You know we're going to ask you to reboot, so why not do it before we get there?"

I get a bit irritated when people tell me they have, then I get there and they have 35 apps open with 35 tabs in their browsers. Yeah, lying to me will help with your problem.

Good point cjorgensen, I mentioned the site in passing to an IT Support guy last night and his first response was to question the truthfulness of the user's answer as well. I'll put it in there.

I assume you've seen the show IT Crowd? If not, you should.

Of course, if the user's problem is preventing web access...

Even my mother thought this was funny, and she was the butt of the joke.

Needs a "No, I'm running Linux" option.

Needs 20 questions and a guaranteed resolution of the problem.

That would be impressive.

I asked to have this added to my company's #HelpDesk email auto-response. Which would be great except that it would cut our workload by 95% and I'd get laid off.
