Fuel Footprint - Track your mileage!
We've been working on another site, this one to help people track their gas mileage and expenditures for their cars... we're still working on getting some more interesting reports out of it, but as a tool for tracking your fuel economy, it already works pretty well. Plus, this is our first try at using OpenID, so signing up is quick and easy.

I couldn't add a car to my profile. It kept saying the make was blank, but I had already picked one in the drop down.

Worked ok in Firefox. Are you planning a bulk upload facility? I have all this data in Excel going back to 9/2004 spread out over 112,000 miles.

(user account created, worked in ff 3.0)... Are you planning to integrate data logging devices that use OBDII formats like the ScanGaugeII..?

@mathowie - sorry about that! It looks like maybe you didn't pick the year... currently a car needs a make, model and year to work. Clearly I need to improve the add a car page a bit! Could you try again and let me know if it still isn't working? I added your car in my test system and it seemed fine (I had to paw through logs, and I'm pretty sure I found your attempts.)

@jwells - I don't have that yet, but I'd love it if you could help me test it! Would you mind if I contacted you via the email you used when you signed up?

@acro - Hadn't originally, but it looks cool! Let me take a look at it and I'll get back in touch with you through here, probably.

Sure, no problem. It's in Excel right now. Let me know the column format you'd like and I'll make CSV and tab formats for you.

I was happy to see how you'd done the mileage entry, BTW. I compute the mileage then and there using the trip meter so I was worried but found the shortcut of just entering it in directly. You might want to make it more obvious that people can jump to that directly.

For the car/year problem, keep the create button disabled till they finish entering all that in, and use red asterisks to make it evident that's how to get the button enabled.

Is there really "supreme" gas? I've only seen regular, premium and super. I like how "supreme" sounds though, I'd probably pay more for that.
