No, THIS is what I call music: The Podcast
My wife and I bought a new digital camera at the post-Thanksgiving consumption orgy last year, and a couple weeks later I discovered it could also record decent quality video. We go to a lot of live music, so I decided to start bringing the camera with me and recording a song or two per show. The result is... a DVD that I've produced as an Xmas gift for various friends and family, but not for the Internet, because DVD's are big. But also, it's now a video podcast! I'm starting it this week with a couple of local acts (one from Milwaukee, one from Madison), then next week new/unreleased songs from Thunderbirds Are Now! and the Hold Steady. After that come OK Go, Cake, Troubled Hubble, Mike Doughty, the Constantines, Mates of State, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and a bunch of other alternative/indie rock acts. The videos are all MPEG-4/AAC and iPod-compliant, so early adopters will be able to get the full portable benefit. (The link above is to the launch page on my site; for a direct link to the feed click here.)
