Full Glass, Empty Clip
Three years on and Mefight Club, the not-very-secret-at-all offshoot community of Metafilter that likes to play games together, has decided that a public face a little more engaging than a login form might be a thing that we'd like to have. Also, you know, we're Mefites, so we're inordinately fond of typing words into boxes and hitting Post buttons. So I made this: Full Glass Empty Clip, a brand new Gaming Group Blog, written by any and all of our 850-or-so Mefight Club members who feel an urge to write something about or at least related to gaming.

Wikidirections
Wikidirections is a wiki to help you get from A to B. We're a human mapping service, but with a twist. Google Maps will give you (sometimes) precise driving directions, but they won't tell you which is the cheapest, or safest, or most scenic, or quickest way between two points. Should you take the train from Vienna to Salzburg, or is the bus cheaper? That's where Wikidirections comes in. Wikidirections is geared towards world travelers, written by world travelers. We won't tell you how to get from your house to the drug store, but we will tell you, for example, how to get from Spain to Morocco quickly, cheaply, and without getting ripped off. While Wikitravel's focus is on the destination, Wikidirections focuses on the journey itself.

HikiCulture: A Forum for Reclusive People
I created a discussion board for reclusive and introverted people of the web to have a place to discuss anything. The community is very friendly and has a family-like aura to it. It was created less than a year ago, yet has already become one of the most popular boards on the site it's hosted on.

My site is under construction.
My blog was ugly and desperately lacking in updates, so I decided to take it offline. Then I thought it would be a good idea to let people know it was under construction. Then I got a bit carried away. Powered in part by AskMeFi.

The Postmodernism Generator for iPhone
I have recently ported the Postmodernism Generator to run as a native iPhone app, in the process updating the grammar somewhat and adding iPhone-specific features, such as the ability to use surnames from your address book for authors' names and footnotes. The iTunes/App Store link is here.

The Whistling Monster
I teach music at an elementary school, and the students and I spent the year creating a long-form musical story, which became a CD. It's based on a folk tale from an Amazon tribe. All the music, singing and sounds are by the kids.

Fictopedia - The Fictional Encyclopedia
Fictopedia is an online encyclopedia (in wiki form) of user-generated fictional information. Users are free to add or edit any information they wish on any subject with only two limitations. First, the information must be fictional (we already have Wikipedia for the "real' world) and second, the information must be about original, and not existing fictions (so nothing copyrighted/in someone else's book/movie/show already). Fictopedia is about creating new fictions by letting users add, edit and cross-link each others' ideas. There is no limit on genre (sci fi, alt-history, present day fiction, fantasy, whatever!) and articles can range from serious to silly. The goal is to see what emerges. Think of it as a fan wiki for all the fictional universes that don't exist yet. I've been working on this with several friends for a while, but I want to throw it open to as many people as possible now. Come create an account and contribute - see where others take your ideas!

The Ankh-Morpork Undertaking Map
I made an Undertaking (subway) map for Ankh-Morpork, set about 50 years in the future (from canon “now”). I took some liberties with names of places, given the time gap. For instance, Dolly Sisters has become Dollisters, the Whore Pits has become Harpits. Locations are based on the canonical Ankh-Morpork map.

MJD-S Photography
I'm finally coming out of the closet and calling myself a photographer. This is my new portfolio site with a range of photographs in different categories including food, people and places. Please note that I can't be held responsible for any weird sensations you get from licking your screen.

Facedowns
This is a thing my brother and my friend and I do. It began sometime in 2006 but was probably festering in my brother's synapses long before that. It's about this and that, and probably nothing at all. Facedowns are from over 2 dozen countries and at least 10 American states… and counting, of course.

Homebrew Tips, Tricks & Recipes
I recently helped my friend/neighbor/co-worker, Scott Russell, set up his homebrew website and thought it might be of interest to the many MeFi homebrewers. Scott is currently the manager of the Home Brew Department at the South Royalton Market, South Royalton, Vermont where we both work. He was the manager of the Home Brew Shop at the Seven Barrel Brewery, West Lebanon, New Hampshire, for about 8 years in the late 1990s and early 00s. Scott co-wrote the Seven Barrel Brewery Brewers' Handbook with the late Greg Noonan, and is the author of North American Clonebrews.

Great Cookies
Last December a FPP was made about Gourmet Magazines Favorite Cookies. Recently it was noticed that many of the recipes are no longer available. In December I had laboriously cut and pasted every recipes into a MS Word document. I've PDF'ized the whole thing and posted it. I've made no attempt at editing or cleaning it up in any way. My Original MS Word file is also available. I've also posted my mother's awesome Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe.

OddBook - keeping track of your reading
I've been tracking my reading since 1997. In 2002 a friend of mine created a simple PHP application that created a booklist with RSS feed and a search and archives and I've been using it ever since. It's been tweaked a few times over the years [thanks and hosted from Uranus] but just recently cowbellemoo helped me get it in shape to put it up on Google Code. Actually he pretty much did all the work. Examples on my longstanding booklist and his example list.

The MP3 blog for busy people
CPI's MP3 blog (alternate facebook version) was set up to accomodate my friends who love music, but are too busy/productive to constantly dig up the best new stuff.

The Complainist
My friend and I have been writing to companies for years now, pretending to be a middle aged woman who lives somewhere in the US with her husband and her two children. We started writing in 2002, but recently launched the site and started making more of an effort to write regularly. Linda Wilson often misunderstands a product's intended use, usually takes suggestions from advertisements literally, and always lacks the common sense most of us take for granted.

Crabouiller Record Company
Crabouiller Record Company is my new record label. Today marks the release of my new record, a self-titled 12-inch LP. I'm super happy with it! It's been a long time coming.
This music dates back to 2003-2005 and is now finally seeing the light of day as a very short run (100 copies!) of beautifully pressed vinyl. Each record comes in hand-printed (by yours truly) jackets in archival sleeves with a hand-numbered woodblock printed insert. Truly a labor of love, these.
The goal of the label in brief: Release experimental and electroacoustic LPs and CDs in attractive, handmade packaging accompanied by free high-quality digital downloads.

ThinkStank: Josh Millard's Bad Ideas
I have a lot of ideas. Most of them are pretty questionable, underdeveloped, or poorly-thought-out. ThinkStank is a blog where my ideas go to hang out. I even put some of them in action, like the WTF LOL OMFG flier and Always Be (Snow-)Cloning.

Curious Cookbooks
Reviving a previous Web site idea of mine: quirky and unusual recipes and obscure food ideas from vintage and not-so-vintage church and community cookbooks. Not your usual foodie blog. Bear mincemeat and kosher faux oysters, anyone?
