Globe Trot (50 filmmakers, 23 countries, 1 dance)
This is an international crowd-sourced dance-film project put together over the web. I got 50 filmmakers on all seven continents (including Antarctica) to each shoot two seconds of dance by choreographer Bebe Miller. There was a manual on my website that trained the filmmakers in how to learn their 4-count phrase assignment and how to frame the performer they would find on the street. Each person then sent their footage back to me for editing. I explain it more in this HuffPo blog.

A Chair of Ice and Fire
How to do you explain everything that's occurred on Game of Thrones to your annoying kid brother, who shouldn't be watching it? Here's one possibility!

Kiva Interest Rate Finder
Kiva allows people to fund microfinance loans through Field Partners. Some Kiva Partners charge the equivalent of 109% APR. That is incredibly high. Kiva doesn't make it easy to find the partners that charge borrowers 0% or low interest, so I made a script to do so.

Documentary about Huautla de Jimenez and Mazatec mushroom rituals.
In January of 2010, Dan Glass, Alex de Campi and I went to Huautla de Jimenez, Mexico to interview people about Mazatec healing rituals involving psychedelic mushrooms. We only had one contact in town, four days to shoot, and none of us were fluent in Spanish. Fortunately, luck was on our side. The Secret Life of Mushrooms is an examination of the cultural impact of an indigenous people's worldwide exposure of their psychedelic spiritual practices.

Play SPENT: Can you make it through the month?
My agency created this game for a local poverty services non-profit. Too many people assume that being poor is the result of a moral failing or laziness. Hopefully SPENT challenges those assumptions.

Art Wear - A T-shirt and Screen Printing Blog
A new blog dedicated to screen printing on T-shirts. Posts will hopefully be eclectic, including reviews, technique, profiles, the history of t-shirt printing (especially in Austin), and other musings as they occur to me.

POM Wonderful Presents The Greatest Movie Ever Sold
So I've come here a few times to promote films I've produced. I have Morgan Spurlock's POM WONDERFUL PRESENTS THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER SOLD coming out this weekend in theaters across the US. The film has been previously mentioned on MeFi after the premiere at Sundance. It's a documentary about product placement, marketing, and advertising that's funded entirely through product placement, marketing, and advertising. The film is currently sitting at 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it's played incredibly well at festivals over the last few months. In the spirit of the film, I'm trying to sell sell sell to get MeFites to see it in theaters this weekend or whenever it comes out in your town.

Without a Net: Librarians Bridging the Digital Divide
I wrote a book! It's at the printers. I made a website for it that contains the appendix, some supporting information/handouts/links and some other stuff. I used the INFLUX one-pager design (thanks ArcAm) and then I tampered with it. It's fine if you don't buy it. I'm just so happy it's finished.

My Year of Living Canadian
For the year of 2011, I’m living Canadian. For 12 months, I will only buy Canadian products, eat Canadian food and consume Canadian media. I’m documenting my progress through a website, and plan to publish a book about my project in 2012.

No Baggage Challenge
Heyo. I'm traveling as a producer and cameraman (and director...and editor...) for a project that will take travel writer Rolf Potts around the world in 6 weeks (hitting 12 countries on 5 continents) with one twist: he's doing it with no luggage. No backpack, no man purse -- not even a fanny pack.

Indian Ephemera
For quite a while I've been scanning and uploading various bits of ephemera collected during my time in India. The bulk of it is matchboxes, but there's also a lot of firework wrappers, educational posters, and miscellany. They are beautiful examples of Indian graphic design: strange and colorful, sometimes unintentionally hilarious, sometimes exquisite, and often based on hand-painted pictures. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

Parody "I'm Voting Tea Party" Shirts
The Tea Party might have a quasi-mainstream official platform, but it also seems to be a magnet for far right loonies, angry racists, borderline psychotics and those that are simply grossly misinformed. These shirts are for those fringe nutjobs that make the Tea Party rallies so much fun to read about. "Obama is right handed, just like Hitler. That's why I'm voting tea Party!"

My site is under construction.
My blog was ugly and desperately lacking in updates, so I decided to take it offline. Then I thought it would be a good idea to let people know it was under construction. Then I got a bit carried away. Powered in part by AskMeFi.

I'm finally coming out of the closet and calling myself a photographer. This is my new portfolio site with a range of photographs in different categories including food, people and places. Please note that I can't be held responsible for any weird sensations you get from licking your screen.
