odlaw.
Odlaw (as seen on Waypoint) is a two-player stealth game about visual distraction. You and your opponent must seek each other out in a field of one hundred fake players, but with such a populated space, the first challenge is to find yourself. There's also a black-and-white mode for folks who have trouble discerning color.

Free fonts from the 90s!
A couple decades ago -- 1996, to be exact -- I tried to design some fonts. I've finally gotten around to recovering them and converting them to modern font formats. So for the enjoyment or abuse of your next print or onscreen project, here are some totally free typeface downloads.

Sonnigsburg: A Supernatural Drama
Sonnigsburg is a six-part supernatural drama series that I made with the help of some emerging TV professionals on a budget of $30,000. It was a developed for a local community network in Melbourne, Australia and since its screening there has now debuted on YouTube. Perfect to binge-watch over the holiday season.

Touch Bar Piano
Have a new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar? Wish it had a really tiny fiddly two-octave keyboard? Then this is the program for you! Fully polyphonic, choice of all 128 sounds from the General Midi orchestra. Here's a demo video.

Futile Fonts
Do you like fonts based on ultra-obscure 1980s LED displays, or based on ROM dumps from the Commodore 64's pen plotter? Of course you do!

A bot in the street but a snowclone in the sheets
This bot fills out the "___ in the street but a ___ in the sheets" snowclone (originating from "a lady in the street but a freak in the sheets") in various different ways.

Convoy Conquest!
My friend and I are in the process of eating at every restaurant on San Diego's Convoy St. (an Asian-food mecca of sorts), Jonathan Gold-style.

Want to find out how MeFites are pronouncing MeFi?
After years of studying these shibboleths, and tracking my research progress here, I'm happy to share some data results from the 2010 survey. My first published article, Sociophonetic Variation in an Internet Place Name is available in Names: A Journal of Onomastics special issue on Names, Naming and the Internet (Maney Publishing). Enjoy!

Elevator Madness
In our latest improv short, my wife, Adria Dawn and I explore what happens when a pregnant woman gets trapped with a self-proclaimed pregnancy expert. This is a slightly twisted take on how soon-to-be parents really feel sometimes. We hope you enjoy it.

Play SPENT: Can you make it through the month?
My agency created this game for a local poverty services non-profit. Too many people assume that being poor is the result of a moral failing or laziness. Hopefully SPENT challenges those assumptions.

Marriage D.C. - Because Our Marriage Was Once Illegal, Too!
mrmoonpie and I (mrsmoonpie) have been performing wedding ceremonies for primarily, but not exclusively, same-sex couples in D.C. Here is the new website detailing the services I offer. The site is still in its infancy, but I think you will see where I'm going with it. And a big THANK YOU to all of the MeFi folks who offered advice and gave me a helping hand!

Texture: a collaborative manual for the design professions.
Hi! First project! It's really just a skeleton at this point, but there's potential. Basically, it's a wiki for designers of all kinds to pool their collective knowledge. Eventually, I see it as an open curriculum for design students, a free reference manual for the professions, and a comprehensive and authoritative store of design knowledge: a wikipedia for designers.

Librarian Science blog: Cute animals, conservation, library stuff
My first-ever attempt at a blog, and I'm feeling self-conscious about it. I don't know if this is even worth posting to projects, but I've been doing it for a week or so and have posted a lot of things that I find interesting. If you have any interest in libraries, or zoos, or science in general, take a look and pretty pretty please give me some feedback.

How desperate are you for a Mac netbook?
The Askme question about a hackintosh netbook a week and a half ago got me interested in making one myself. So I bought a Dell Mini 10v and made my own. This is a 3,400 word blog post about the advantages (some), disadvantages (many), and why the advantages outweigh the disadvantages for some people and not others. In addition, it's compared to a real Macintosh and is used as evidence for why I've come to believe that Apple's unlikely to ship a Mac netbook any time soon.

Certificatebuddy.com: gift certificates made simple
Certificatebuddy.com is a web application that allows small businesses to print and track gift certificates. I got frustrated by the lack of such a service when trying to make gift certificates for my girlfriend's online shop, so I made one.

The Alien at the Bottom of the Garden
I've always wanted to create a 'virtual pet', and finally got the chance with this game that's designed to teach kids about diet and exercise by getting them to look after a little alien visitor (rejected names/taglines included "Take me to your feeder" and "Eat tea with E.T."). Hopefully the cuteness and nice touches will make it fun for some adults too.
