Big Ben word game
A unique puzzle for each second of the day, with lots of nice touches: the background fades between day and night based on London time, there's a satisfying bonnggg sound that shakes the game when you find a long word, fireworks if you clear the grid, etc. It also features a large dictionary and generously makes sure you don't get a Q without a U next to it.

That's a proper noun but it was worth a try, it's a generous dictionary (381,928 words) that contains a lot of archaic spellings and rare words.

That's such a good bonggg, and having to make a word just enough distance to get to it on the reward pathway, so you're not just constantly bonggging until you develop a problem.

Two thoughts:
It'd be good to have a Wordle style summary of your personal stats. Not just personal high score, but longest word yet achieved too.
A few times, I've been part way through forming a word then released the mouse when I realised the word I'd had in mind isn't going to work. Say I'd been trying to form "ASSISTANT" but gave up on realising I had no second S. In that case, when I release the mouse the "AS" goes through as a two-letter entry, which is sometimes frustrating. Maybe make a second mouse click necessary to confirm each entry so you have a chance to review it first??

Yeah I considered storing high score etc, but decided it was better to keep the end screen uncluttered in this case (unlike with DayBrix, where it's a daily game and so all about the ongoing stats). It's a tricky call though, maybe I'll add something.
And I did try out an extra confirmation click... but it was annoyingly cumbersome vs learning your lesson to be careful, sorry!

Not sure if you're still checking this thread, malevolent, but I love the game, though I'm having trouble running it on Chrome for Windows. I can't seem to select any letters. Works fine on Chrome for Android and Edge on Windows. Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?

As I assess the things that have made 2023 bearable, your game is way up on my list. Thanks!

(But why wouldn't it let me have "Israel"?)
