Rogerian Therapist Bot
This is a Rogerian therapist modeled after real transcripts of therapy administered by Carl Rogers. Uniquely, this program can be downloaded and used locally. It is for entertainment purposes only, of course, but some may fortuitously find it helps in self-examination. Enjoy!

Neat! I took a quick look at the JavaScript and wasn't able to figure out how it worked -- I see the transcript(s) of sessions and I understand that your JS is parsing through it. But how does a user's input affect what is generated? I think I see that if a keyword the user says is explicitly mentioned by a patient in the transcripts, then you set a flag to 1, but then what does that flag do? I last touched JS many years ago so I am likely missing something obvious.

Thanks! It works by finding keywords in the user entry that match prompts and then randomizes the response based on the replies that match the prompts. I think it works unreasonably well given the simplicity of the algorithm, but you can judge for yourself.
