3 Generations of Tools, Photographed
I'm a third generation stagehand. My father and grandfather were both theatrical carpenters, and my father is also an antique tool collector. Many of the images are literally the drawers out of his roadbox and various tool chests at his home, others are some of my favorite pieces of his. I've been posting them with my recollections of a lifetime with these tools, or with stories from my father or grandfather.

My father's been pretty sick the past year, so this is my way of really digging into the stories of his collection and getting these stories down before they're lost forever; that collection contains his tools as well as those of his grandfather, some of which his grandfather bought from the man under whom HE apprenticed.

Hoping to eventually post them to my own website, but it's currently a bit borked. Sorry about the Instagram link.

I'm really happy to see this and think I get where you're coming from. My hobby is woodworking with hand tools, so I go to old tool shows regularly. I occasionally see old tool chests with their original contents for sale and can't help feeling like I'm looking into somebody's brain. Nice that you're preserving context.
