Film Talk Forum - Smart friendly discussion of the best in Film and Television
I've been looking for a good place for deeper discussion of great films and TV shows. I saw this thread in AskMeFi and checked out the criterion forum, but found it lacking. So I created my own film and TV discussion forum. Please feel free to join and add to the (currently non-existent) conversation. Tell all your film geek friends too. Thanks. :)

I like the initiative but there's literally nothing here.

Maybe kick things off with a couple posts of the discussion level you'd like to see to help guide people. Sometimes when people start a forum they'll get a handful of people to promise to participate at the very beginning and they'll do a few threads to get things going. It helps new people know why they should get involved in the community.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, perhaps I posted prematurely :)

I have now put up a kick off post at http://filmtalkforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5 on Inside Llewyn Davis. Great flick. I'll be posting more as time goes by and as you suggest, encouraging others to do so to get this off the ground. I'd love to have a place to discuss films and tv with people and hopefully this forum will become that place.

Potentially stupid question, but you're aware of FanFare, right?

If you are aware of FanFare and it didn't meet your criteria -- what different role is your discussion site intended to fill? More in-depth, more film-geeky, more interested in sound editing? Different discussion structure?

I was not aware of it, so not a stupid question, but it appears to only cover TV. My site is Film and TV. Also, in taking an admittedly very quick glance at Fan Fare, the discussion seems to focus on plot elements rather than theme, direction, editing, camera, etc. So yes, more film geeky, with an emphasis on the elements of filmmaking as an art and how they are being used, as well as a deeper discussion of story elements as they relate to other works (other films being referenced, works of literature, etc.). The post I link to above about Inside Llewin Davis gives a fair idea of the flavor I'm looking for, but there is of course always room for other voices and visions. I'm not going to yell at anyone for posting "OMG I love what Betty is wearing." :)

On further review there is film talk there as well, but I still think there's a significant distinction. Plus . . . Sharknado!!!!!
