Tech Museum Fundraiser - You can be a Siege Engineer.
A little over a year ago, a technology museum in a Boston, MA suburb, The Charles River Museum of Industry suffered a severe flood, with more than a foot of river water on the main exhibit floor. Restoration and cleanup are still ongoing. We are looking for Boston area companies to sponsor a team (8 people), that will represent them in a one day challenge to build and fire large scale medieval traction trebuchets.

The machines will be large, over 10 feet tall, and capable of throwing a multi pound projectile several hundred feet. When the construction is finished, we will have a best of three shots competition for furthest throw.

Win valuable bragging rights. Help a local technology museum recover from a serious flood. Leave with a tool that could be useful should you need to repel a hostile takeover attempt.

All materials and tools will be provided. The event will be held in the Waltham, MA area, sometime later this year (most likely September). The minimum donation per team entered is $5,000. There will be a limit of 8 teams. The event will be open to spectators.

The event page has contact information should you wish to offer up a team. It also has a timelapse of a group of teens building a machine comparable to the machine your team will be constructing.
Role: Event organizer and host.

Great idea; I will pass this along to people I know who might be interested.

One note: The site says the event will be held in spring or summer. If it will really be September, that will make a difference to whether college groups will participate, so you'll want to clarify that on the site.
