Godspeed You! Black President
A site that throws together Godspeed You Black Emperor and a pitched-down Barack Obama. Sounds like the nervewracking end to a long night in the Situation Room, with only a bottle of scotch, some childhood memories, and the nuclear launch codes for company.
THE PUN: a username of a frequent poster in the Something Awful Politics forum during the 2008 election.
THE IDEA: dormant, at the bottom of my projects list, for an embarassingly long time.
THE SENSE OF URGENCY: idontlikewords's You Are Listening To Los Angeles and Barack Obama officially launching his re-election bid. Finally it was time to actually make the damn thing!
THE MORAL: do not wait two years to make something that you can do in one night!

Thanks man. Maybe I'll add in some speeches soon - there's probably some decent quality direct-from-mic audio out there somewhere. They'd probably have a bit more gravitas, you're right.

I really really like this BUT (and it's a biggie too me), the forced autoplay of sound is very accessibility unfriendly, not to mention downright frustrating if you are a serial browser tab opener.
I like it because it's original, and unique, but I really try to avoid anything that hijacks my browser / system sound !

I have to say, I'm not a fan of GSYBE at all, but in this combination, their soundtracks work really well.
I wish you could throw some speeches in there too, but I guess the crowd noise would be annoying. Radio or TV address perhaps?
