Bad Job Interviews
User submitted anonymous stories about funny, unusual, or just plain bad job interviews.
Inspired by user submitted sites (everything from the Tumblr site Clients from Hell, communities like Reddit, and even Ask Metafilter), Bad Job Interviews hosts reader stories about job interviews gone bad.
Since the site is brand new, we are looking for anyone to submit their own job interview stories (all submissions remain anonymous) to help build our Tumblr site. As always, appreciate any feedback, comments, criticisms, etc. Thanks.

mathowie, thanks for the kind words. The site is using a modified version of the Tumblr theme Effector, which is a great free Tumblr theme you should check out. The persistent topbar navigation is part of the theme, but we tweaked it a bit for our purposes.

Looks like the site's down for me. Looking forward to checking it out when it's back though.

londonmark, that would be the dreaded Tumblr service downtime -- I hope they address their growing pains some day. :(

I noticed the automated Twitter posting for this project says "Error" with no link.
Thank you Tumblr downtime. :(

Nice site and good content but I really really hate the popup nav bar thing. I'm seeing it on more sites around so I'm probably in the minority, but gah, I keep trying to find the button to turn that annoying thing off. I'm currently looking for a job so funny interview stories is right up my alley, but I never go back to sites using those things.

shelleycat, i understand what you mean. We've never designed a sight using a persistent menu like that before -- since it was built into the theme, decided to tweak it and give it a try. The big thing for this site is we wanted the menu to stay a constant since we want people to find the "Submit" (a story) button/link. Would the menu annoy you less if it was constant (like Twitter) instead of popping in on the page scroll?
Anyway, I think you'll be seeing them on more and more sites (as you pointed out), for better or worse.

I love the idea! I don't love the ... poo. I found it terribly distracting and unpleasant. The rest is very nice.

Yeah, I agree with thinkpiece about the poo. It's an awesome site though. I have a sad tale to submit.

I'm not shelleycat, but yeah. Persistent is better.
Part of the reason those things bug me is because I read everything on the screen, then scroll down using the space bar. At which point there are two lines of unread text at the top of the page which appear for a split second, then get covered by the navbar, foring me to scroll abck up a little using the arrow keys.
I imagine it wouldn't bother me if I scrolled using a mouse or arrow keys as I worked my way down, but I'm a page-at-a-time girl.
Otherwise, neat site.

How'd you do the persistent navigation on the top after scrolling? Was it just a purchased theme or all custom?
