My blog is morphing into a project
In the beginning it was exactly like ten thousand blogs of interest to nobody. It is now a little more interesting. For the last 50 days, there has been a post every five days, regularly alternating on the subjects of literature, philosophy, psychology, and metaphysics. I have many partially completed and nearly completed and complete posts to follow on this schedule, perhaps indefinitely. After reading this Metatalk thread, and in particular these two (1,2) comments, I have decided to take the plunge and post here. If you want to look at one of those particular subjects, here is a link to a post on literature, here is a link to a post on philosophy, here is a link to a post on psychology, and here is a link to a post on metaphysics. In tribute to the aesthetics of Matthew Haughey, I have the closest blue background to Metafilter blue available on the base blogger palette.

Skimming over the posts it looks like it's probably pretty interesting, but unfortunately I couldn't skim for very long because I found the site design rather hard on the eyes. I know you're sort of doing an homage to MeFi with the color scheme, but I found myself blinking an awful lot trying to read the posts. I think it might help if you switch to a sans-serif font (and maybe up the font size a little), and/or maybe set a fixed width on the content area -- I have a 24" monitor and it takes a while to go from one side of the screen to the other. I know MeFi itself is liquid too, and I don't usually have the same problem here, but the combination of white on electric blue + smallish serif font + liquid layout = a little too much effort to actually read comfortably.

Yes, the colour scheme is very hard to read. If you're stuck on using the light blue then I think you'll need a darker font.

This was educational. The readability thing surprised me. I have been happily reading metafilter for so long that I was sure white text on blue background would please multitudes. I spent about an hour this morning reading the "green text on yellow background" links and the ask metafilter questions about what scheme to use. Apparently it is an open question.

I switched to ~90% white text on a dark green background. I may play with a non-serif'd font.

Thank you to all the folks who checked out the site and offered feedback!

In the third, the powers of the figure are given, spoken in the third person.

You mean first person, right?

I see you've abandoned the MeFi homage altogether. It's a LOT more readable now.

Thank you O.R. I fixed the typo.
