The many faces of Boris Johnson

I’ve just compiled 36 of my photographs showing London street art images of Boris Johnson into a single Twitter thread. The roles Johnson’s shown in here include comedian, demon, Beatle, blackface minstrel, clown, monster, glove-puppet, shoeshine, dominatrix, junkie and sexy manga boy. Threadreader.

London's Ukraine War street art

The first bit of London street art I saw addressing Putin's war against Ukraine appeared on Day Two of the war itself. More and more examples followed as I wandered round London over the next few weeks, including graffiti murals, home-made posters and protest stickers. I've stitched together 26 photographs of the best witty, angry and inventive pieces I've found so far into a couple of PlanetSlade collages here. [more inside]

North London's angry & witty protest stickers: a gallery of lamp-post art

I've been out photographing the street art of my North London neighbourhood again. This time, it's the wide range of angry, witty and often very creative protest stickers adorning every lamp-post and traffic sign round here. Targets of the 50+ stickers in my online gallery include climate change, male violence, NHS austerity, Brexit and increased police powers. Others I've chosen aren't protest stickers at all, but earn a place anyway simply because they made me laugh. [more inside]

GANksy, the A.I. street artist

I trained a StyleGAN2 neural network on street art but ended up creating something totally new that generates dark and twisted imagery in its own unique style. The full-size 'signed' digital artwork is for sale to support producing more VOLE.wtf nonsense.

25 examples of Hackney & Islington’s BLM street art

Ever since Minneapolis police killed George Floyd on May 25, I’ve been photographing examples of Black Lives Matter street art in my corner of northeast London. The 25 examples I’ve collaged together here – window signs, posters, graffiti – were found within a hour’s walk of my home, mostly in either Hackney or Islington. A lot of the work included has already been scrubbed away, so I’m glad I documented it while I had the chance. [more inside]

London's coronavirus street art.

As London's coronavirus lockdown started to ease, I took an early-morning walk each day round my local north London neighbourhoods of Hoxton, Shoreditch and Islington, photographing all the best examples of coronavirus street art I could find. I've complied my better photographs into a poster collage, which you can enlarge to study the art's detail if you wish. I'm still adding to the collection too. [more inside]
