Any movie scene, rewritten like a Michael Bay movie
Needs More Boom is proof that sometimes you just need to do something stupid for no other reason than "because I can." Just type the scene, hit the 💥LFG💥 button, and see how much better if would have been if Bay had shot it.

"Rhymes With 'Biscuit'" rolling-ball sculpture
Link goes to 3:30 YouTube video. Rolling-ball sculptures typically involve lifting balls via some mechanism and then letting them roll down various interesting routes. Rhymes With "Biscuit" takes a different approach; it has the balls rolling round and round without going up and down (very much).

Helix Mirabilix: Ball-lifter for marble machines
A new ball-lifting mechanism for rolling-ball sculptures (AKA marble machines, marble runs, or whatever you like to call them) in which the ball magically ascends a helical track in apparent defiance of gravity. Link goes to 3 min. YouTube video.

Scenes from the Quarantrain
When COVID lockdown began in March of 2020 I knew I’d be spending a lot of time at home. I had begun and abandoned an HO scale train layout a few years previously and figured the time was right to re-start it. The result is The Quarantrain. Childhood memories, pop culture references, fantasy scenes, images from my warped imagination. A work in progress.

Driving Around Wisconsin Photographing Bar Signs
Last year I acquired a panoramic format camera and needed something to do with it. When I ultimately decided on using it on was to document the many locations, mostly in Wisconsin, that still have a certain style of vintage bar signs from the 60s and 70s visible in them.

The X-Men Made Me Gay
An autobiographic comic for The Nib about how early exposure to the 90s X-Men cartoon and subsequent movie gave a confused gay teenager a metaphor to deal with it.

I made a guitar
I built a solid body electric guitar from scratch and wrote a rather long, detailed account of the process. Only partly a how-to, I wrote about what was required, what I learned, mistakes I made, and what I'd do different next time.

2015 Daily Art Project
For the year of 2015, I and my friend Sheala drew our butts off. The premise was simple. Every two weeks we'd start a new theme and draw/sketch based off said theme. Except for Saturdays, because everyone needs a break. At the linked page, you can find a complete list of the themes, along with links to the images and a short Exit Interview as we discuss what we learned and experienced.

Experimental Brewing The Podcast
Denny Conn and Drew Beechum, two homebrewers with too much time on their hands, tackle a variety of subjects about brewing, the beer world, homebrewing and sloppy citizen science. It's light hearted, has a ukulele, shades of Car Talk and is all about the wackiness of beer science and the science of beer wackiness

Super Micro Paint
I made a web toy that simulates a doodling and animation toy from an alternate timeline 1990s. Create 2 color, 32x16 pixel, four frame animations. Then transform your creations into gifs resembling a cheap LCD, an LED matrix, a vacuum fluorescent display, and more. (Source on github)

What is #GamerGate currently ruining?
Everything about #GamerGate has been, as mefi would say, super inside baseball, so I set up a website to show everyone what misogynist crap they're currently doing and stuck a blog on the back with brief summaries and links to people who have covered it more in depth. It's very inspired by single-serve sites even though I've added a lot more to it by now. About the project.

word.camera generates paragraphs from a photograph
With Clarifai, an image concept extraction API utilizing convolutional neural networks, and ConceptNet, a lexical relationship database, I built a template system to generate paragraphs of text from photographs. word.camera is responsive — it works on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. The code behind it is open source and available on GitHub, because lexography is for everyone.
