After a night of being teased for performing both the Running Man and the Roger Rabbit, I bet my wife and her friends I could make a legitimate hip-hop video and make $10 from strangers on the internet. Exponential Binary Clock Countdown
This is a fairly simple concept site to try to convey just how enormous exponential growth becomes. It counts to 2^63rd power at 100 increments per second, with notes about what might be happening when that next bit, in this case a square on an 8x8 grid, turns black. Hoping people can use it as a tool to inspire a little wonder in math.

Ghosts With Shit Jobs
In the future, jobs still suck - but in whole new ways. By 2040, the economy has flipped and North Americans are a cheap labour pool for wealthy Asian markets. A Chinese documentary show focuses on the "ghosts" (Cantonese slang for white people) unlucky enough to have been born into the slums of Toronto in a special report that translates as "Ghosts With Shit Jobs."

Stock trades determine the songwriting in this audiovisual presentation, translating the ups and downs of 2010 into musical notes. Using a five-note scale spanning three octaves, pitch is determined by the daily closing numbers of the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

TurboVote
If voting was easier, more people would do it. That's the theory behind TurboVote, the Netflix for voting. According to a New Organizing Institute study, 1.9 million people didn't vote in 2008 because they couldn't find their polling place. Wouldn't it be great if you could vote from home? You can.

100 Rogues - a sweet new roguelike for the iDevices
Hi Metafilter! Just wanted to announce that my roguelike (which is sort of like an RPG, but with permadeath, randomly generated maps/loot, and it's entirely turn-based - think turn-based Diablo), 100 Rogues has been released on the App Store!. Here's the review from TouchArcade!

"In 1984 NiNCOM released the arcade game Janey Thomson's Marathon to tie in with the promising US long distance runner's imminent appearance at the Los Angeles ... Now a copy secretly kept by an employee has come to light and via the magic of emulation we can bring this lost classic to a new generation." Inspired by fiendish classics such as Desert Bus and Takeshi's Challenge, I designed and coded this gruelling retro-style game with a marathon course that's nearly half a million pixels wide.
