Winter on Georgian Bay
Highlights of a four-month time-lapse taken from a cottage overlooking Lake Huron, during an absolutely epic winter. We planted a double-Raspberry Pi camera on Dcember 27th and recovered it in early May, and were somewhat surprised to find that the board hadn't frozen or been eaten by raccoons. And indeed, the more-reliable Pi had taken over 42,000 photos. Including the lake freezing and thawing, icicles forming right in front of the camera (and then miraculously breaking off just three days later, before they get boring), killer storms, and ghostly single-frame shots of deer passing by. Hope you like it!

Stories About Monkeys
I am spending the next 11 months in the rainforest in Cote d'Ivoire studying monkey behavior! I'll be telling (hopefully) exciting stories of monkey chasing, fecal sample collecting, snake spotting, and the challenges of integrating myself into a village on the Liberian-Ivorian border at The Great Blue Erin.

Oregonians for a State Bank
How can we help the economy? By helping small businesses. Even Ben Bernanke admitted that community banks, not big banks, have stepped up their lending to small businesses since the financial crash. North Dakota has had a solution for this since 1919: it uses its tax reserves to extend lending to community banks. It's been working quite well. There's plenty of evidence that it would work elsewhere. Now, Oregon wants in on the action.

Oregon Ballot Drop Box Locator
Since the official locator for ballot drop sites in Oregon is pretty hard to find, not super user-friendly, and doesn't work in mobile browsers, I worked with Scott Duncombe at the Bus Project to develop a friendlier site that Oregon voters can use to find the nearest place to drop off their ballots. Locations are provided by Data.Oregon.gov. We're still looking at features to add over the next days/weeks, but the site is live.
