Reds Of Future Past
For The Baffler Issue 44 “Truth Decay”, artist and activist John Leavitt approaches the topics of historical memory, the first red scare, the role of propaganda, and the labor movement as something haunting the American mind.

Making a Menger sponge in stained glass
I spent the last six weeks taking a stained glass course from a local artist (Vavroch Glass Studio) and the culmination of that is a 15"x15" stained glass Menger sponge rendering that I'm absolutely delighted with. This is a writeup with pictures of the whole process from conception to completion.

Afterlife Wingdings
The TV show "The Good Place" has lots of easter eggs, including some strange otherworldly text. I decided to make a font out of it.

The earliest when
A short list highlighting sexist disparities in the numbers of winners in various awards. "This is a short list of earliests. The earliest it can be when as many women as men have won Best Director at the Oscars is 2111. The earliest it can be when as many women as men have won the Nobel Prize for Literature is 2104. The earliest it can be when..."

Film photography website get!
I'm a film photographer based in NYC and I finally bit the bullet, scanned a load of negatives, bought a URL + hosting, and put up a website. Mostly black and white (some color), mostly medium format (some 4x5 large format or 35mm), in a couple different genres. There's some moody street work, a fun hot sauce expo, NYC Pride 2016, and much more for your delectation. Enjoy and thanks for stopping by!

Snakehead Trade Whiskey
I made whiskey based on frontier and Wild West recipes that called for tobacco, leather, and hot peppers. As well as gunpowder and a rattlesnake head. This is the story of making and drinking what seemed like potentially poisonous thing I have ever ingested.

Amen break for half an hour at 99.9% 100 %, and 100.1% speed
In The Air Tonight drum fill for 1 hour 10 minutes except it's tripled and one is played .1% faster and one is played .1% slower got a good reception when it got posted to the Blue a few days back, so I did the same thing with the Amen Break. I think it works.

The Corey Press
I've just completed a major revamp of my website, The Corey Press, where I keep all my weird wooden blockprints. Need some medieval alien abductions? Done! Old school Pokemon battles? Sure! More Cthulhu Mythos than you can shake a stick at? You betcha. I'm really proud of my newest piece, a Mothman-inspired ouija board.

Picture a Flat Surface: The Enduring Mystery of "After Last Season"
After Last Season exists in the subconscious of the internet mostly as “that trailer with the cardboard MRI machine.” Even among the most diehard fans of weird cinema, it is something that may have made a momentary blip on their radar if they have even heard of it at all.

The Art is Not The Artist: On Holding Abusers Accountable & Enjoying Problematic Media
This is the thought process I go through when I’m considering the creative output of a horrible individual, and the questions I ask myself about whether I can consume the work in good conscience.

Vintage Visualizations
Once upon a time I liberated a bunch of fun post-Civil-War maps, charts and graphs for all to see. But now you can buy them! For your walls! Posters of ye olden days graphics on everything from consumption to population to religion to Germans and more.

Anthology of the Best Short Stories
In a 1914 New York Times article, twenty-six of the most prominent writers of the day were asked what was the best short story in the English language. Among those naming what they considered the best story were Arthur Conan Doyle, Jack London, Edna Ferber and Booth Tarkington. I have compiled these stories (approximately 1,500 pages) into a three volume series.

Documentary: Round Window stained glass, stop motion
I make stained glass windows for a living. For a long time I've wanted to make a stop motion movie of a window going together. So I finally did it.

How Not To Be Wrong
After three years of work, my book HOW NOT TO BE WRONG: THE POWER OF MATHEMATICAL THINKING comes out today from Penguin Press! It's about math. Also: baseball, Reaganomics, daring lottery schemes, Voltaire, the replicability crisis in psychology, Italian Renaissance painting, artificial languages, the development of non-Euclidean geometry, the coming obesity apocalypse, Antonin Scalia’s views on crime and punishment, the psychology of slime molds, packing 24-dimensional spheres, what Facebook can and can’t figure out about you, the invention of calculus, and the existence of God. The book is available at Amazon, Indiebound, Waterstones, and (I hope!) your local bookstore. MetaFilter has been a fantastically useful resource for me in putting this together; partly because I can use Ask for my questions about statistical significance in different languages and stockpicking scams, but more importantly because I've learned so much about how to write about math for non-mathematicians from writing about math on MetaFilter!
