Get Afraid Journal
Thanks to AskMeFi I put a bowl of fruit on it and sold a piano on Craigslist. The buyer ended up composing an amazing song with it for my podcast. After 28 episodes of Man Afraid of Everything (from hailing a taxi to doing improv for a year) I’m excited to share this new workbook inspired by the show. Write, draw, and trash your way through a series of challenges designed to expand your comfort zone. [more inside]
Between Seasons on the North Head Trail
A longform visual essay (3000 words, 50 photos, and a song) about walking the historic North Head Trail in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. A tromp through local history, freezing rain, macrophotography, fog, a cholera hospital, moonlight hikes, tourists, foxes, and optical phenomena. [more inside]

Learning How To Scream Again: Promoting Leftism for Artists and Writers
The culmination of a lot of conversation I've had with fellow artists, designers, and writers. How do we effectively sell Leftist ideology ? How did we get here? What does a new left art look like? What should it's goals be? What's the best way to achieve them?
I self-published my first comic, The Offbeat Path!
I've been drawing and posting comics for a while, and I finally had enough decent material to make a book out of it. It's 26 pages worth of autobiography, dreams, and musings on the culture I live in. You can download the book (a pdf) for a buck fifty from my Gumroad page, or you can go to my Tumblr and poke around in my archive to see most of the stories included.
Openings: first lines from books, articles, poems, songs, movies
A collection of great first lines. Just launched this week. If you want to recommend a first line, please comment! Excited to share my first project with you, I've been an AskMeFi lurker for years.
Common Copy, a crib sheet for web developers
A quick and dirty page for any web developer who wants to crib all of that text you need for a properly functioning web site; account creation, forgotten passwords, login errors, etc. Free to use, just cut and paste it into your site.
The Highlights
The Highlights is an online arts journal from Brooklyn, NY. Beginning as a response to the journalistic bent in art reviews, the publication was created to give artists an outlet to engage in unconventional criticism. Since that time, we have enlarged the format to include experimental text and digital media projects. These works are an extension of the artists’ own practice and consist of image-based essays, original videos, interviews, as well as fictional, virtual, biographic, and diaristic writing. All completed projects are stored permanently in the online archive where they are available for browsing. [more inside]
Spillway: Card-Carrying Neophilia
Spillway, my blog, is now one year old. It's a portal to my writing and journalism. May contain traces of serial killers' back gardens, George Orwell, short stories, gangland civic pride, security infrastructure and zones, love for an underpass, London retro-futurism, Swiss minaret alternatives, how childhood movies shape the world of tomorrow, Koolhaas and Tatlin, Poundbury and insane asylums. (Why Spillway? Why "card-carrying neophilia"?)
