London charity shops treasure hunt.
Just before Christmas I visited 30 different London charity shops, anonymously donating a signed and numbered copy of my murder ballads book to every one. My online photo clues are there to help people find the shops involved and snap up these moderately-attractive collectors’ items at a bargain price while also supporting the charity's work. The headline link here gives full details and this Twitter account has news of the results so far.

This is all very London-centric, I know, and I can only apologise for that. For reasons of both money and time, it simply wasn’t practical to distribute the 30 special copies any more widely.

This is cool! I know where one of the shops is. Now if only I can find the book before anyone else...

Good luck, easternblot - I'll be rooting for you.

As I type this (11:54am Metafilter time), there's still only one of the 30 books that's been definitively accounted for. Please let us know how you get on with your own search.

Update: I couldn't find it on the shelves. I checked all possible sections (music, history, crime, travel, and the general display areas) but all shelves were very full so I think it's still in the back of the shop. I don't want to say which shop it is, though, because I just realised (thanks to Google Streetview) that one of the other shops is VERY close to it, so I'm going to go back later. I also identified a third shop, so I WILL find one...
