I'm really curious now how you did your research (the Frosty Boy reference being, as someone pointed out in the comments, a very telling detail.) I'm guessing you either know a scientist who's been there or have read someone's thorough blog account. Or did you apply for an Artists and Writers grant to go down there yourself? (If you didn't, you should!)

I've kind of always had a constant "let's go to ANTARCTICA" fantasy in my head, in the background so I tended to devour first hand accounts of life on base (one of my very first FPPs was about that) and and I read blogs and such by people' who've been ...and then I just went on a six hour documentary binge hoping to get more detail + reading book length accounts and eventually this just came together.
so I'm really genuinely shocked snd honored that people say I got the feeling the place and the details right. That's a pretty damn cool.
(That Frosty boy machine comes up a lot...)

Did you watch "Antarctica: A Year On Ice"? I could have sworn that one got posted here on Metafilter at some point, but now I can't find it.
