An interactive magazine for interactive fiction. Previous authors include Vajra Chandrasekera, Porpentine, and Yoon Ha Lee. And Emily Short thinks we're cool!
The tools are ready. The devices are ready. All IF needs to break into the mainstream—to become the next podcast or ebook—is for more writers to try it and more readers to find it. IF needs a market.
Over the last year, I've been combining my B- talents as a writer, illustrator, and developer to create that market and persuade some A+ authors to submit to it.
AND IT'S WORKING.
sub-Q publishes fiction on Tuesdays; interviews, tutorials, and news on Thursdays. Stories are free to read—no registration required. Members who do register can rate stories, comment, save favorites, and unlock achievements. Premium Members enjoy special features and behind-the-scenes content.
Plus Emily Short digs us! "If you are interested in IF, especially Twine IF with a speculative fiction focus, you should be paying attention to sub-Q."
BONUS FACT: It was MeFi's Nov. 2013 post of Michael Lutz's "My Father's Long, Long Legs" that introduced me to IF.
BONUS SPOOKY FACT: Just a couple of months ago, I went looking for cover art for the upcoming reprint of MFLLL. I found the perfect photo, connected with the photographer, and licensed the art. It wasn't until weeks later that I realized the photographer is MeFi's own jessamyn . WHAT.
