The Fridge app: save food, save money (with app video)
I've finally released an iPhone app I've been working on for four years: The Fridge. It's made to help you remember about your perishable foods so they don't go to waste. It has some unique UI elements that (I hope) are interesting. And of course, it comes with a demo video, but not a usual one (absolutely no soft ukulele music).
One of the UI things is a colour-shifting effect, which came out of attempts to recreate the look of a phone screen through 3D movie glasses. Another is a two-part system of one realistic half (the fridge and the foods) and a flat design half (all of the dialogue boxes).
I tried to go for something original with the video, and I really hope it works well. Original planning involved popsicle stick standins. The music is done by Tom Whalen, the same person who did the music for the incredible video game Goblet Grotto. Also helping on all of this, through thick and thin, Metafilter's own heeeraldo.
