Instant Portland
I love the city where I live, so I've started to write about it.
This project is something I've been dreaming of for a long, long time (I originally envisioned it as a paper book, printed annually, as a tourist guide, if that tells you anything).
The "goal" of this project (if you will) is to develop a pretty deep repository of profiles of businesses in the city, and ideally I'd be able to have them read by the folks who visit our city (have you seen how many "I'm going to visit Portland ME what do I do while I'm there") questions have turned up on Ask?
In the future I'm going to be adding profiles of places to stay, museums, and I'll be trying out some of the "things to do" (mailboat cruise, spooky tours, duck boat ride) that you can do in Portland.
I'm having a LOT of trouble bending the wordpress template to my will, though, so some simple things like adding a FB link on the home page or an About Me page have been harder to do than they really should have been.

HEy, this is wonderful! I love Portland too but I really am glad to know about some MeFite recommendations for off-the-beaten-path stuff. Love the design, topics, etc. Looking forward to the museum reviews, as there are some real gems in Portland.
Might I suggest moving your tag cloud up above the blogroll, if it's not too hard? I thought I was clicking on post categories there, but found myself exported to other blogs when I still wanted to be exploring yours.

I enjoyed this (just reading for the imaginative experience, never been to Portland, doubt I will). One thing - I would have liked to know a bit more about the writer.
