This is really neat. Did you ever consider doing an average serif and an average sans serif separately?

Wow. That worked out better than I imagined it would.

The shapes remind me a lot of the variation in letterpress, which makes a webpage full of this font read like an old newspaper. I really love this font!

Yeah, I thought it was going to be like averaging all the water colors in a box. I expected mud.
Thanks for releasing it with such a generous license. I think I may use it for my next iBookstore project.

Wow, great response - thanks! bjrn, your idea of making serif and sans serif versions is a great one, and I'll have a look at doing that as soon as I get a moment.

Thanks for putting those together too. It's fun to see how the two groups compare to each other as well. Just looking at samples and not thinking about uses, the combined Averia is my favourite. I think it's the mixing of serif and sans that give it some character.
Good stuff.

This is great. I'm using sans to write a letter to a long-lost friend, hoping that she thinks that I just kept getting cooler and cooler as I got older...I hope it works

Kind of reminds me of a font called Hightower in that the serifs are so rounded off. Very cool!
