South Asian American Digital Archive (SAADA)
"Dear Mama, [...] We had a riot here about a week ago, the people ran out the Hindoos..." The South Asian American Digital Archive (SAADA) aims to document, preserve and provide access to the history of the South Asian American community through a digital archive.

SAADA is a digital-only community based archive and a volunteer-run 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization based in Chicago. The collection now includes over 200 unique items that tell a compelling narrative about the history of South Asians in the United States.

Here are some examples:
"Dear Mama, [...] We had a riot here about a week ago, the people ran out the Hindoos..." A letter from A.W. Mangum, Jr. to his mother describing the 1907 Bellingham Riot.
• A collection of materials related to the Ghadar Party, an anti-colonial movement based in San Francisco in the early 1900's.
• Hindusthanee Student, an important publication of the Hindustan Association of America.

Any suggestions, comments or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
