Objects, signs, and dictionaries
If it were still 1997, I would be out a billion dollars in domain names. But seeing as it isn't 1997, I've created three sites in three weeks. Feeding Objects is a site where people...feed objects. It's kind of in the name. Hey, I Found Your Sign is a site that encourages people to remove illegally placed business signs (we buy houses, earn cash from home) from their community. And, finally, My Dictionaric (because dictionaric.com was taken), the call-in podcast where I read the dictionary aloud until someone calls in to chat. I know, I know. I'm really raising the bar for quality internet content.

My site is under construction.
My blog was ugly and desperately lacking in updates, so I decided to take it offline. Then I thought it would be a good idea to let people know it was under construction. Then I got a bit carried away. Powered in part by AskMeFi.

Every day, I draw on a 3x5 index card.
It started when I won a small old-school library card catalog at a university auction.

Resurrected Recipes
Resurrected Recipes is devoted to researching and recreating recipes that are no longer in vogue, but were familiar to our grandparents, or even our great-great-grandparents and beyond. Many old recipes are very tasty, and it’s a mystery why they’ve been forgotten. Others have been forgotten for good reason. We’ll try them and find out which category they belong to.

A "model kitchen": images of early 20th Century kitchens and kitchen goods
Images of kitchens from 1905-1925, from advertisements, plan books, and magazine articles, give us a fascinating glimpse into life in the early 20th century -- both idealized (dream kitchens) and real. I built this page while researching ideas to restore my 1911 bungalow kitchen, but found that the collection was too interesting not to share. The rotating "U-Turn-It" apartment fixture is pretty amazing in itself, but there's also the 1917 dishwasher built into a tabletop, the ingenious rotating-out under-drainboard cabinet, floor and cabinet plans, and lots of interesting tidbits of life in that period.

Don't Believe Everything You Think
Dr. Amy's blog using evidence to challenge the conventional wisdom. Latest posts include: Your "orgasm face"? Cosmo and pornification of women, about Cosmopolitan Magazine and its influence on young women; Death with Dignity? Better act fast! about euthanasia; and The March of Dimes marches off a cliff, about the March of Dimes disingenuous campaign against prematurity.

An open letter from Nickyskye
This is single page put together for another Metafilter member. It's designed simply to update friends on her medical status and request a bit of help.

Blues Name Generator
Riffing on an old idea/joke that came up in Metatalk today, I've put together this little blues name generator. Because why should Leukemia Sweet Pepper Tyler have all the fun?

Let’s play games for the first time…and fail.
People record themselves playing video games for the first time, with no prior knowledge of the controls, game play, mechanics or storyline. And then they fail. During this, they swear a lot. Currently, all of the content is screen capture with audio, but I'm hoping people will eventually submit webcam/video with a picture in picture of a face growing exponentially more frustrated. It is interesting because, while the videos are amusing to watch, they are infinitely more fun to make and submit. The site is based off of an idea proposed by a SomethingAwful.com member, and used with permission.

Adiphon
  • Ad - a paid announcement, as of goods for sale, in newspapers or magazines, on radio or television, etc.
  • Antiphon - a verse or song to be chanted or sung in response.
  • Adiphon - a reply by means of alteration, caption or addendum to an advertisement.
This is kind of like a mash-up between The Consumerist and Post Secret. It's a photo blog that posts user submissions of altered ads, photos of ads or captioned ads as they are received. The idea is to answer an advertisement you've seen and think could use a good reply. Adiphon is an artistic release for the frustration we feel in a marketing saturated world. Have you ever seen an ad and wanted to say something back? I need designers who aren't shy and voices with things to say, so stop by and submit something. It's fast and free. Join a community no longer interested in the one way conversation.

One Music Geek's Favorite Songs and Why.
As someone who posts at various communities about music a lot at various communities, I decided to create a vox blog where I count down my 300 favorite (note: I'm talking about subjective favorites here, not objective 'best') songs at the rate of (usually) one a day, accomapnied by an essay. This could either be illuminating and interesting or an exercise in pure narcissism. Due to vox's limitations, the songs are streaming mp3 only. This entry gives a detailed description on my intents.
