My mom died because she was too poor to afford a doctor
While Congress debates a rollback of the ACA, I wrote my mom's story as a reminder that health care isn't just a line item on a budget spreadsheet.

You have my condolences, missjenny. I lost my father a few weeks ago. I know how hard it is. Thank you for sharing this story.

Tears in my eyes. Health care "hearing" on C-SPAN in the background. Wish Sens. Graham and Cassidy et al. could read this. Impossible to think they wouldn't be moved.

I had no idea you had to endure so much growing up. Thanks for writing that and using your experience to make the case and help everyone else!

Because sometimes it helps to know you're not alone ... My mother also died (primarily) because she could not afford healthcare. A few months before she died I started blogging about my experience in trying to get her help. (I was on the other side of the country with a newborn.)
