Circle Of Friends - Decentralized WAN Bonjour
Bonjour (née Rendezvous and ZeroConf) enables automagic service discovery on one's local network. Bonjour can also be practiced on WAN, but requires one to use a DNS server or a dotted IP address.

Circle Of Friends will enable those of us on reasonably stable "dynamic" DSL to use Bonjour to access services on others' CoF computers without requiring use of services like DynIP. It will occupy a niche between small local networks, and the internet as a whole, allowing small communities (perhaps even MeFi-sized) to form loose private networks of discoverable services.

I need to partner with someone with good programming chops, particularly regarding sockets/servers. Bonjour is a cross-platform product, so it should be implemented in a manner that will run on all platforms; my habits run to Python.

I think this project has the ability to turn the internet on its ear. Muwahahah! and, no, there is nothing at the website. sorry.
