old-school unix talk for the web
cellphone and I created a simple two-person character-at-a-time talk utility modeled after old-school unix (but you don't have to care about that to use or like it!).

Improved BART Logo Shirt
As some may remember from the MeFi threads about a BART police officer who shot and killed an unarmed man in the back (who was face down on the ground and apparently handcuffed), I designed an "improved" BART logo and I've been selling T-shirts. All sale proceeds will be donated to Oscar Grant's family. The shirts can be purchased here. The logo can be downloaded here for use at rallies, protests, marches, etc.--please feel free to distribute it anywhere you see fit.

Standards and Pours
The short of it: Blog about drinks (started in 2007). The long of it: Basically a blog chronicling my journeys as I learn more about beverages as part of my job. It also provides an informal platform to talk about drinks and beverages that's different from our publication's usual trade format. The theory being it's approachable for both people in the industry or consumers who just want to read about drinks. Sometimes interviews, sometimes first-person accounts of industry events and the bar scene in New York (since I'm based here, but sometimes I talk to people in other parts of the country).

Who Wrote This (MetaFilter) Comment?
NavelgazingFilter: Inspired by this thread, I've made this exciting MeFi-powered game. Given a comment, can you name who wrote it?

White Glove Tracking visualization
Three video sketches based on the data from White Glove Tracking, the locate-Michael-Jackson's-white-glove-in-his-performance-of-Billie-Jean project that was previously seen on MeFi and MeTa. You can see the videos on YouTube or watch the 640x480 QuickTime movies with better quality. I've also linked to preview JPEG snapshots for a quick peek.
1. Slinky (YouTube) (45MB QuickTime) (JPEG preview) highlights the fluidity of Jackson's movements.
2. Stretchy (YouTube) (45MB QuickTime) (JPEG preview) brings to animated life the variety of glove sizes, positions, and contours.
3. Shapely (YouTube) (33MB QuickTime) (JPEG preview) illustrates the prominence of another type of white glove in Jackson's life: the surgical glove.

A couple of days worth of reverse engineering, but it finally works.

Blues Name Generator
Riffing on an old idea/joke that came up in Metatalk today, I've put together this little blues name generator. Because why should Leukemia Sweet Pepper Tyler have all the fun?
