Videomixer music video blog
I've started a blog of my favourite music videos. It was going to be limited only to new videos but unfortunately good new videos don't come around often enough! So it includes some old favourites. Youtube really is a great resource for things like this.

Free Online File Conversion
Zamzar is a new Web 2.0 site that has recently launched, offering free online file conversion for documents, videos, images and music. It supports hundreds of formats whether you're converting PDF to DOC or AAC to MP3. You can upload up to 5 files simultaneously and up to 100MB of data. Overall a really useful tool for anyone needing to convert files in a hurry !

Primary Source News
The Internet and information technology have made primary source materials more widely available than ever before, yet the presentation of the news is too often commentary with little substance. The interviews, government documents, statements, art and images we are providing represents the raw data that is the news, and as much of it as we can find.

Carbon Footprint Snaps
A silly blog we started to a) be fun, b) be funny, and c) raise awareness of energy and climate issues. It's like "yo mama" snaps, but about your carbon footprint. Please feel free to register, contribute, and click on ads if you're feeling extra spunky.

A bunch of geezers blogging
I'm a member of the Monday Evening Club, of Pittsfield, Mass. We are 17 gents who meet eight times a year from fall through spring, for a nice dinner hosted by one member, and the reading of a "paper" presented aloud by another member, followed by discussion. We've been doing this since 1869, but unfortunately the club never archived the more than 2000 papers that have been presented during its first 139 years. So now I've started this blog as an archive (and I'm keeping a paper and offline archive as well). So far there are 15 papers from the current and prior seasons, on a wide range of topics.

The most frequently cited books on Human Relations from Ask.MetaFilter
I counted every amazon link on every single question and answer page (5,427 pages) from the human relations category of Ask.MetaFilter. This spans more than five years worth of advice. The results are pretty interesting. I also did this for the work & money category.

Brooklyn Brainery: Get into things
We were tired of paying hundreds of dollars to take classes in things we could learn ourselves and sitting through surface-skimming lectures, so we created Brooklyn Brainery. Cheap, collaborative classes where you work through a subject without some Dr. Bossy teacher - just some books, Wikipedia, everyone else's experience, and maybe an ice cream maker. We cover everything from your grandmother's favorite crafts to pure snobbish intellectualism. Think book club on steroids!

Cocktail Cost Calculator
In the style of the "Sandwich Calculator" on Cockeyed, this tool helps you to analyse and view the costs of cocktails at home or parties. Choose from 54 ingredients, such as 1 ounce Gin, half-ounce Frangelico and four ounces of grapefruit juice, and see the costs of each portion totalled and displayed on the next page.

HikiCulture: A Forum for Reclusive People
I created a discussion board for reclusive and introverted people of the web to have a place to discuss anything. The community is very friendly and has a family-like aura to it. It was created less than a year ago, yet has already become one of the most popular boards on the site it's hosted on.

My site is under construction.
My blog was ugly and desperately lacking in updates, so I decided to take it offline. Then I thought it would be a good idea to let people know it was under construction. Then I got a bit carried away. Powered in part by AskMeFi.

Chicago musician attacked defending woman
Here's a series of articles I have written this month while covering a tragedy that has a happy ending. Matthew Leone, bass player for the Chicago band, Madina Lake, was attacked when he tried to aid a woman being choked on the street by her husband. He was badly injured with no health insurance. Fans worldwide have been donating aid and the Smashing Pumpkins are playing a benefit show for him tonight in Chicago.

Diary Dig: Wikileaks Afghan War Diaries explorer
A richly faceted and deeply hyperlinked browser for all of the as-yet released Afghan War Diaries from Wikileaks. Allows you to search by type, category, number of casualties, and many other parameters. Within each document, uncommon phrases that are shared among multiple documents are linked together, allowing you to go down the rabbit hole where you might not have otherwise thought to. My hope is that this will allow reporters, researchers, and the general public to better understand the scope and nature of the US war in Afghanistan, and the contents of this important archive. Source code available.

Objects, signs, and dictionaries
If it were still 1997, I would be out a billion dollars in domain names. But seeing as it isn't 1997, I've created three sites in three weeks. Feeding Objects is a site where people...feed objects. It's kind of in the name. Hey, I Found Your Sign is a site that encourages people to remove illegally placed business signs (we buy houses, earn cash from home) from their community. And, finally, My Dictionaric (because dictionaric.com was taken), the call-in podcast where I read the dictionary aloud until someone calls in to chat. I know, I know. I'm really raising the bar for quality internet content.
