Resoldo
My dear friend Robert Zimmerman (proud father of illustration sites drawger and illoz) & I have been struggling to get this little music site idea off the ground... we both think it's so cool. Musicians (like me... & maybe you!) can have their own site, upload song libraries and mp3s, photos, you name it. Now all we need are the musicians to get on there and use it. What do you think? Do you like it? Any suggestions to improve it? Anyone want to join in? Feedback very, very appreciated.

Refi: Metafilter in Review
I spend too much time on Metafilter (and especially Metatalk). I've had I-don't-know-how-many conversations about the site—what it is, what it was, what has[n't] changed, and such—and so I've decided to go spelunking. I'm going to go back and read Metafilter, and blog it. I'm planning to read every n-hundredth or so post, starting from the beginning, and I'll be trying to note various observable trends—users, memes, tone, conversational structure, etc. It won't be rigorously scientific, but hopefully it'll be reasonably objective. Specific analytical notions welcome. Likeminded co-author proposals welcome. Cash welcome.

Three words, five minutes
Need inspiration for writing, or just a writers-block stretch? When you click "Go", you'll get three common English words as inspiration. You'll be given a five minute timer. Write. You don't need to use the words if you don't want to. When the time is up, nothing happens. You can stop or continue. You can save what you've written, or not. You can reload the page for more inspiration.

OfficePoltergeist
OfficePoltergeist is the easiest way to terrorize your coworkers. OfficePoltergeist sets up a small server running on the victim's machine. The program, which hides in memory while it runs, waits silently for a connection on port 666. With the OfficePoltergeist, you can be the poltergeist! OfficePoltergeist allows you to:
  • Play spooky sounds
  • Open or close cd drives
  • Transmit text through your victim's keyboard
  • Make windows shake
  • Turn monitors on and off
  • Move windows slightly left and right
  • Send popup alert messages
OfficePoltergeist does not install itself or remain in memory after the game is over. While the OfficePoltergeist server does run as stealthily as it can to avoid the victim's attention, OfficePoltergeist is totally gone when the user restarts his or her machine. Source code and whatnot is available.
