I Love You Like a Cover
I was going to record an album of original music, but depression and a creative block waylaid that goal. Since Alex Lahey’s debut album inspired me to reconsider some of my approach to songwriting, I decided instead to teach myself GarageBand and cover her album front to back. So here it is.

THE ESTATE OF WILLIAM BRADLEY PITT VS. THE MUSEUM OF NEW REALITY
A short SF story I’ve been trying to sell since 2015 that suddenly has relevance thanks to the Vice story about face swap pornography so I decided to self publish it to Medium. Celebrity! Copyright! Intellectual property! Puns!

The Coen Brothers Must Die
Do the Joel & Ethan actually work for Big Tobacco?

I've personally counted every single cigarette & tobacco item appearing within all 17 films created by the infamous Coen Brothers. Visit tobaccoenbrothers.com to view the raw spreadsheet data and read about my alarming conclusions. Joel & Ethan Coen seem to have an overwhelming allegiance to Big Tobacco that goes way beyond simple product placement deals. Like everyone else, the films by the Coen brothers hold a special place in my heart, but what I've found during this study will shock you.

Clips for Hiking Poles with Hinge and Clasp
3D model of clips with a simple hinge and tension clasp. I designed these for my partner, who uses hiking poles for mobility but does not need to use both at all times. These clips allow a person to carry an unneeded pole on the one being used, keeping the other hand free.

Play Payba¢k
Payba¢k is a game designed to help teens understand the costs of college BEFORE they begin applying. We made it to address an issue many families face: Kids have no idea how much college actually costs. Parents are super uncomfortable discussing finances with their kids. So too often, nobody talks, kids apply to schools they can't afford, parents stretch themselves too thin and everyone ends up disappointed.

What I Did This Year
A quick round up of stuff I’ve written, drawn or said out loud this year that exists in an easy to see on the Internet form for both myself and something to show to editors and art directors.

My mom died because she was too poor to afford a doctor
While Congress debates a rollback of the ACA, I wrote my mom's story as a reminder that health care isn't just a line item on a budget spreadsheet.

Annotated Chicken Slaughter
Our farmer friend culled his flock of chickens and we went out to help. I wrote up a description of how to turn a live chicken in to something resembling what you would pick up at the supermarket. Content warning: includes descriptions of killing and processing chickens. Photos are mostly gore-free but may not be appropriate for everyone.

Fuck Everyone in the Entire History of Humanity™
Storgy has published my short story, “Love, Anger, and Pity; or Fuck Everyone in the Entire History of Humanity”. Coincidentally, it was published the same day the U.S. Supreme Court ruled offensive trademarks must be allowed, invalidating a plot point in my story.

Learning How To Scream Again: Promoting Leftism for Artists and Writers
The culmination of a lot of conversation I've had with fellow artists, designers, and writers. How do we effectively sell Leftist ideology ? How did we get here? What does a new left art look like? What should it's goals be? What's the best way to achieve them?

Evening.Camera: Fragments of my life from twilight
I'm a photographer. I wanted to make more, better pictures, so I started going out a couple of evenings a week with my camera. I've found myself drawn to what I've pompously called "liminal light", as artificial lights take over from the daytime. There's a blog post about the first 100 days of the project here.

Trailer for Ginevra
I have finished my first project using the multi-plane animation stand I built this Fall. The trailer for the short film Ginevra is now online. Based on Percy Shelley's poem "The Dirge", Ginevra depicts the aftermath of the murder of a young woman. As her distraught mother looks on, she learns that life after death involves a transition she never could have imagined.

1958 Rambler Super Station Wagon Rebuild
My brother has been rebuilding a 1958 AMC Rambler Super Station Wagon (4 door) for me. The original vehicle was in rough enough condition that he "transplanted" the body onto the chassis of an 1986 Oldsmobile, and then he just went from there.
