Our Backyard
This is a super low-key chill project, sharing some of the better videos I get (mostly from trail cameras) of critters in my backyard. It's mostly deer and bunnies lately.
"Still Me," my latest music video
I wrote the music using some Apple loops and original stuff too. I used GarageBand for iOS. And iMovie for iOS. My partner did a lot of the video-ing. I love the old French doll and the bluejay finger puppets.
PicPack - Easy photo and video sharing for groups
I needed a way to share photos and videos for my son's Lacrosse tournaments with other parents. Most solutions require an app download or make it harder than it needs to be. I built PicPack to make the process of collecting and viewing photos and videos super easy. [more inside]
SciBookChat
I've been making some videos about science and books. They're not reviews of science books, but more discussions of things related to how science and scientists are presented in books. For example, in what I retroactively called "season 1" I looked at parody science books. I'm now in "season 2", where there'll be a new episode every two weeks until the end of the year. The first one of the season involved a bookshop tour to discuss different types of non-fiction books, and the next one (November 3) will be about how the representation of scientists in fiction has changed over the years. Specifically: how and why is Frankenstein different from The Martian's Mark Watney?
A collection of Doctor Who clips.
For the last few months (and probably for many months more) I've been using vine to make short videos of various entrancing bits from old Doctor Who episodes - including memorable quotes, incredible music, dramatic entrances, utterly terrifying monsters, mystifying machinery, general weirdness, repeated exhortations to obey, charming old computer graphics, horrifying mutations, fist fights, and the just plain odd. And about 200 more. [more inside]
Ink and water music video
This is an animated music video I made a few months ago that just launched online. It is for the Seattle band Dark Hip Falls, and their song 'Lam 2: Red Hands'. It was made using water, ink, and gum arabic solution. Enjoy! [more inside]
Steller - Story telling app.
An iPhone app that lets you make stories out of photos, videos and text, and then publish it and share it. And you can read other peoples stories. [more inside]
Elee TV - My Music Video Channel
I put together a site to broadcast curated music videos. Like my parents tell me MTV used to. [more inside]
oublio: most popular stuff on the internet
I made a site and I thought MeFi might find it interesting: It shows the most popular image on Reddit, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and Flickr in real time, as well as the most popular videos on YouTube each day: www.oublio.com. Now you can waste time on social media more efficiently!
The Dirty Sock Funtime Band Show
The Dirty Sock Funtime Band Show
Nominated for “Best Kids’ Band for 2006″ by Time Out NY Kids
Nominated for “Best New Band” by Children’s Music Web Awards
“Don’t let the wigs and bright clothes fool you: The Dirty Sock Funtime Band is the closest thing to arena rock that the New York kids’ music scene has got. Its hyperactive stage show and loud, anthemlike harmonies come in part from Mike Messer’s theatrical background and from Stephen Jacobs’s love of seminal funksters Parliament-Funkadelic. Says Jacobs, ‘We want to give kids their first rock & roll experience. I had to wait until I saw Prince!’” [more inside]
Caerse Muerto
The awesome (horror movie) blog Kindertrauma premiered a short film/music video I put together today. [more inside]
