Is the Future Already Set?

We think the past is immutable and the future is yet to be written. But is that an illusion? Einstein's special relativity suggests that it is, as I explain in this short animated video produced in collaboration with BBC Earth.
Also featuring: space invaders! 🚀🚀🚀

Swapping time and space

I was curious to know what it would look like if you swapped the time axis with one of the space axes (x or y). I tried it on a random sampling of short black-and-white movies. [more inside]

Explaining Einstein's General Relativity on its 100th Anniversary, with the BBC

It's the 100th anniversary of Einstein's theory of General Relativity! The BBC recorded a conversation with me about Einstein's ideas, and they turned that recording into a short animated video. NaNoWriMo Doom Clock

I made this for myself when flirting with the prospect of writing last autumn, but I felt compelled to clean it up and share it with the world for this year's contest. Starting November 1, it's going to start counting up from zero to 50,000, which will be reached at midnight on the 1st of December. It was designed as a tool to inspire, but I think the actual effect might be more troubling. I guess that depends whether you're on pace or behind.

Intervals, online time, task and project management software

Intervals is an online app that I've been working on for several years. Our web design and development agency built it, and uses it, to track our time, tasks and projects. Thought I'd share it with other web-savvy types who might find Intervals useful. There is also a lot of great content in the blog as well, where we've been writing about web design and development for several years. Lots of great content there.
