I spent all last week at the excellent Sidmouth Folk Festival in the English county of Devon. I didn't manage to attend all of the 624 events on offer there, but I did manage to see three gigs a day and photograph many of the performers involved. For Pride month, join celebrated historical fiction author Nicola Griffith for a conversation about queer representation in medieval history and fiction. The acclaimed author of Hild, Spear, and Menewood will explore how fiction can create belonging and challenge narratives about who belongs in history. As many of you know, I play the ukulele. I got a public performance license for the MBTA this year and set a goal to play at all 63 of the T stations with performers' areas between now and 28 May 2017. [more inside]

I filmed (and performed in a few) nearly 40 custom-written love songs for a bunch of strangers on the internet. They were customers of the company I work for, and we wanted to thank them for saying lovely things about us. [more inside]

Ladies and Gentlemen is a multimedia performance duo combining guitar and live, remixed video. Our performances are incredibly difficult to document, so we put together these videos as an attempt to give some insight into our process, as well as to explore the intersection of composition, musical performance, and video-as-instrument. An immersive nocturnal ambient sound experience created and performed by yours truly. Mixing hundreds of field recordings, soundscapes, shortwave radio interceptions, natural drones, found audio, and more, it's a wide-ranging sonic odyssey which reflects ecologies of many kinds: environmental (ocean sounds, wildlife, atmospheres), religious (calls to prayer and ritual singing), radiophonic (data transmissions, Morse code, folkloric music) and beyond. The Flight is performed live and, like a traditional performance, adapts to the interests, affinities, and response of its audience. [more inside]

Everyone complains about how ridiculously simple DJing is, but no one does anything about it. Sound like a pro on your phone by moving your body. It's like DJ karaoke and even your mom will like it.
