A December Adventure: Hobbit Book Club

It's time again for my annual SF/F book club! This year we're reading The Hobbit, in honor of the film out December 15. We're reading 4 chapters a week (or roughly 10 pages per day) with a goal of being halfway done when the film comes out and finishing at the end of the month. The main blog with recaps, reading mixtapes, schedules, etc. is on tumblr, but we're also on @decadventure and Facebook. (Like the facebook page and you'll be added to the closed Facebook discussion group, if that's your bag.)

NYC Advent-ure: 24 days of holiday fun in New York City

NYC Advent-ure is a virtual advent calendar of holiday events in NYC. Events are ordered from most to least time sensitive to make planning easier. I thought of it only a few days before December 1st, so this is a minimum viable product, as they say. I'll be rolling out updates and fixes (development, design, and content) during the month. I hope for it to continue next year and plan on setting something up so people in other cities can create their own calendars.

Decembarsoom

It's the third year running of my December science fiction book club. This year we're reading Edgar Rice Burroughs' A Princess of Mars. We're on tumblr (linked above), twitter, and facebook. The book is on Project Gutenberg, so it's totally free! Reading starts Thursday, December 1.
