Illustrated Meditation for Comfort After a Traumatic Loss

The sample chapter linked here is from Visualizations for Heartbreak, which I self-published in 2020 (in print and electronic versions). The narrative of the book focuses on the traumatic ending of a romantic relationship, but the anguish, rage, shame, and catharsis depicted in its pages are also relevant to other experiences with difficult good-byes. The text is accompanied by photographs and collages (also by the author), and I've recently had recordings made of me reading the text. I believe there is a need for this book, but so far I haven't had much success marketing it. Any suggestions are welcome!

Pictures of Boston Throughout the Year

Nothing exciting, just a slideshow showing the city's moods. With bonus tacky crossfading. [more inside]

f/5.6: a photoblog

I've been focusing on photography (mostly street photography) for the last few years, and I put together this photoblog to showcase past and current work. For best results, view in correct order. If you only have time to look at one image, I suggest this triptych.

DotDotCo: All Signs, All The Time

Who loves signage? I love signage. I also love constantly taking pictures of signs while traveling, and figured it'd be nice to start a tumblr of pleasant signs. Handsome signs, that's all. [more inside]

Michael Hess: Bingo And Social Club Five Years On

Released in 2010, Michael Hess' book Bingo And Social Club collected together his photographs taken in UK bingo halls. It is a rare social document, little else out there records daily life in the UK's retail halls in the same sort of depth. I contacted Michael to commission him to do a new set of photos for the brand new photography section at the site, charting the differences five years on from when he shot the photos for his book. The result is this collection of striking images, warm character portraits and architectural views, charting the people and places of UK retail bingo in April 2013. It's an eye-catching look inside the normally secretive world of the UK land based clubs, and the first in a series of original photographic shoots arranged as part of the growing archive of retail club material at the site.
