Decorated lunch bags for my two kids

For the past year and change, I've been sending my two sons two school with custom lunch bags that I make for them every day that they're at my house (i.e., half of the time). I've painted, drawn, collaged, cut, and stenciled. Sometimes I make an image based on a historical event that happened on that date; sometimes the boys request a particular illustration; and sometimes I just go with my muse. I guess there are a handful of parents doing this in various ways, so it's not the most revolutionary thing ever, but I'm pretty pleased with how a lot of the bags have come out, so I thought I'd share.

Adorable

In 2009, after I turned 56, I fathered my first child. Since all her extended family members live in other countries, I started a daily photo blog, to record her growth.
I love my baby with all my heart. When she was about a year old, we took her to a street fair and a cartoonist drew a quick caricature of her face. That gave me the idea to start collecting artworks based on her pretty self. I guess I went a bit overboard, because yesterday she celebrated her third birthday, and the collection grew to 500 original art works from all over the world. [more inside]

What our kids made

Our family gets a lot of pleasure from our daughter's artwork, and we initially just wanted to put up a site to show her creations off to extended family and friends. We also wondered what other kids her age were doing, and I could not find anywhere solely devoted to displaying kids' artwork. With that in mind, we created this site as sort of a public refrigerator that everyone's kids' art can hang on. [more inside]
