My attempt at the Trans Am Bike Race
I am competing in the Trans Am Bike Race and will be posting updates from the road to my blog.

The link above shows the "roundup page" for the race on my blog, but current posts will be on the blog's front page as well. The progress of the race overall is being tracked at Trackleaders.

The Trans Am Bike Race has been running since 2014 (excepting 2020, thanks to Covid-19), and is one of a number of long-distance, self-supported races around the world such as the Tour Divide and the Transcontinental Race.

It is unlike the better known Race Across America in that racers carry all their own gear and provide for their own needs along the way; it follows a different route and is slower.

The trackleaders site has some nice features, particularly the replay option, where you can see the progress of the race played at 1000x.

Looking at the last people in line, I think some people are walking this, instead of riding it, at least so far.

Sounds like a rough day out there in lots of ways… Hope you’re doing OK. :)

I never knew a race like this existed and I enjoyed reading your posts about it. It's too bad you had to stop early but your body was giving you lots of signals that this wasn't the right time and I think you made the right choice in stopping before you really hurt yourself. There will be other rides, the important thing is to take care of yourself so that you can ride them.
