Extended Play is a fanzine devoted to retro, indie and niche gaming interests. Our first issue is out! It is free to download, looks pretty slick, and has lots of fun and interesting features. There is also a print version on sale.

Thanks! I put a lot of effort into the look, it was the most time-consuming part of making it. It turns out that Scribus, the open-source layout program I used to make it, is very capable!

I really like this! I'm fascinated by speed running and a lot of this scratches a similar itch: learning interesting implementation details, how programmers back in the day coped with the limitations of the hardware, finding optimum paths, safe spots, glitches and all that kind of stuff. The interview with (Dr.) Biskup was interesting and I enjoy your @Play series in general.

I also really like the overall look though if I could make one suggestion it would be to make the text justified in the 4 column layout. The ragged right edge in the columns looks weird to me and I found it slightly more difficult to read for that reason. But I'm not a graphic designer or a layout designer or an anything designer so take that advice for what it's worth.

I had considered doing that (justifying text), and may well in the next issue. I'm still figuring things out!
