One of the last flea pit movie theatres in London is being re-opened in a Luxe version. Maybe no one else will miss it, but I wanted to say goodbye to Odeon Panton Street.

Ah, that's a shame. Yes, I've seen a number of odd films at that cinema over the last thirty-something years, though for some reason the only one that comes to mind now is Crimes of Passion. But it was always a reliable source of watchably eccentric (or eccentrically watchable) films, and if nothing was on at any of the big ones on Leicester Square, I'd usually end up there.

One by one the things that make London London are being replaced by plastic duplicates. It's like living in a half-arsed urbanised remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
