Cybersecurity for the Trumped

Because I'm worried for all those who now find themselves (soon to be) living under a government that they cannot trust, I've decided to try my best to help people enhance their online privacy and security. So I have started posting on this blog about the risks, and the things we can do to help avoid them.

Who am I to talk about these things? I'm not an infosec expert, by any means. I have, however, learned from friends who are exactly that. I also have decent search-fu. I'm the co-founder of a hackerspace, and a moderator on the Linux Mint forum.
There is always a chance that I'm wrong. If you feel that my information is incorrect or incomplete, and you can point me to better information, please let me know. I'm eager to learn new things and I don't want to mislead anybody.

Nice work! Informative and motivating. One thing, though: Not sure Instagram, being an integrated part owned by Facebook, can be used as a Facebook alternative.

Good point. It can be an alternative with regards to the role it can play in someone's life, but that doesn't mean it's safe in every way. I should probably make a note of that. Thanks!

I'd love a post about smartphone security, esp. since so many of our phones are totally integrated to Google (or Apple, which is only marginally better..).

Smartphones are totally going to be talked about soon, but I need to do some research, since I don't have one. I'm afraid I won't have very good news though. But probably still some tips.
