I've just posted a seven-minute film on YouTube about the making of my newly-published guide to America's greatest murder ballads. The book itself's been discussed previously on Metafilter, and this new film explains why I felt compelled to write it and how I came to be so obsessed with these gory, fascinating songs in the first place.
