Work on this project started over 13 years ago, when I'd originally intended to write the story as a work of short fiction for the liner notes to a concept album named <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/faust/id76172009">"Faust"</a> that my wife and I released together in 2002, as the indie pop duo Tangmeenie.
