Very Cool. I'm surprised this hasn't attracted more favorites or votes so far. A 2010 Ted Chiang post is the most-favorited post on Metafilter ever.

By the way, I strongly feel that any organization with the acronym "AAWW" should have a cute puppy or kitten in its logo.
